Child Safety - Corded Window Blinds
Blind and curtain cords/chains are a significant risk to children, as unsecured cords can lead to strangulation. To avoid creating a possible strangulation hazard for children, the corded internal window covering must be installed in such a way that a loose cord cannot form a loop 220 mm or longer at a height of less than 1600 mm above floor level. The following must be installed during installation and remain installed at all times the window blind is in use. If you need any further assistance, please contact us.

Cord Guides / Cleats
- A cord/chain guide may be installed lower than 1600 mm above floor level if the cord is sufficiently secured or tensioned to prevent a loop 220 mm or longer from being formed.
- If a cord/chain guide is installed lower than 1600 mm above floor level it must be designed to prevent a child from being able to remove the cord/chain.

- If a cleat is used to secure the cord it must be at least 1600 mm above floor level because a child is capable of unwinding a cord from a cleat.
- Install the cord/chain guide (as shown in the picture below) ensuring the cord is secured as above instructions. Secure cord in cord guide at all times. Use correct screws and support material for your wall structure. If unsure, please contact us prior to installation. (Note: all our corded window blinds operated by chain/cord consists of the continuous cord/chain loop system and must be secured using a cord/chain guide. Cleats will be provided only if necessary.)
